| The Florence Evening Lions Club has completed interclub visits to the Olanta LC, the Pamplico LC, the Florence Day LC, (all within our Region II Zone B)and a visit to the Aynor LC, Mullins LC, Lake City LC, and Marion LC.
We welcome Lion Pat Mangum as a transfer member from the Cheraw Lions Club, and Mary Lou Yaken as a new member in our club this year. The first district meeting for the Lions year 2003-2004 was held on July 31. The Florence Evening Club received the First Place Award in the District Governor's Contest for the previous year. The club was also recognized for its efforts toward International Understanding and Cooperation from Lions International. We were recognized for our 100% participation for interclub visitations. Our secretary Lion Audrey Croshaw received the 100% secretary's award. Our bulletin editor received recognition for third place standing in the district. And appreciation awards were given for outstanding service to Lions Cecil Ward, Opal Ward, Maynard Slack, Dick Naugle, and Deborah Sorenson. We had an extremely successful year for 2002-2003. CONGRATULATIONS LION WAYLON HILLEY - our most recent MELVIN JONES FELLOW awarded at the district midwinter in February 2004.
