| Major funds are generated by the club to support our service activities by a broom sale during the spring of the year and a candy day drive in the fall. Additional funds from countermint sales, gum machine commissions and some generous donations form the bulk of our activity account.
Activities supported by our fund-raising efforts are: 1 - assisting with the cost of eye examinations and glasses to those people in need in our community. 2 - supporting the Leader Dogs for the Blind program. 3 - providing the cost for a blind camper to attend Camp Leo. 4 - contributing to the Storm Eye Institute at MUSC for the SC Lions Eye Research Center. 5 - contributing to the SC Lions Charitable Services to support the mobile Eye Screening Unit, the SC Lions Hearing Aid Bank, and the SC International Youth Exchange Camp. 6 - contributing to the Lions Clubs International Foundation to support Sight Conservation effort worldwide and also for humanitarian help and disaster relief. 7 - assisting local needy children with a Christmas shopping spree. 8 - assisting people in our community with special needs. Used eyeglasses are collected to be used by relief organizations in Third World countries. "Service" needs are great and the opportunity to serve others less fortunate than ourselves is also great. We welcome others in our community who would also like to give of their time, energy, and talents in this service. Please consider joining with us to make this world a better place.
