The Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) is a world-wide charitable organization. LCIF ranked best among non-governmental organizations (NGOs) worldwide, according to the London-based Financial Times. From 34 global organizations, LCIF came in first. LCIF beat out Rotary International, Habitat for Humanity, UNESCO and UNICEF, to name a few on the list. The ratings were compiled by the Financial Times in association with the Dalberg Global Development Advisers and the United Nations Global Compact.

We contribute to this worthwhile organization every year. Although the focus of LCIF is eliminating preventable blindness in the world, it operates and funds many other humanitarian projects and provides grants to Lions organizations. The Lions of South Carolina have been fortunate in receiving several such grants which have helped pay for advanced equipmenent at the Medical University of South Carolina's Storm Eye Institute, for a new Health Screening Unit van for the Lions of SC to use, matching funds for several Habitat for Humanity homes, and for large print books for use in schools for the blind in SC to mention a few.
